Forbes U/30 summit heading to Botswana?

President Mokgweetsi Masisi says his government is negotiating with Forbes to hold its next Under 30 Summit in Botswana.
Masisi revealed this on Wednesday when briefing local media as well as other stakeholders on Presidential Initiatives.
The Forbes Under 30 Summit is regarded as one the biggest international events for young leaders, founders and investors.
The 2019 edition is scheduled to take place from 27 – 30 October in Detroit, USA. Stars such as tennis player Serena Williams, basketballs Kevin Durant and musician 21 Savage will be among the speakers.
However, with the country going to the national polls in less than a week’s time, Masisi would have to emerge victorious at the general elections before concluding the negotiations.
“Government is in negotiations with Forbes to host the 2020 Under 30 Summit in Gaborone in April 2020 as part of the President’s Initiatives,” confirmed Masisi.
Should the negotiations prove successful, it will be the first time the initiative is held in Africa since it was founded in 2014.
The event brings together at least 600 of the world’s most elite entrepreneurs and game changers.
Meanwhile, having invited American comedian and producer, Steve Harvey, to the country, Masisi announced that two youths, Neo Aobobe and Maxwell Dichi, have been selected to intern at Steve Harvey Global.
The two will join Steve Harvey Global Production in South Africa until the relocation of Family Feud Africa productions to Botswana, according to Masisi.
“It is expected that once it relocates to Botswana, the Steve Harvey Africa Production will advertise for more apprentices and further selections,” added His Excellency.
The duo were selected following a town hall meeting in August this year hosted by Masisi and Harvey whereupon a competition was run for participation in the Steve Harvey apprenticeship.
The applications were shortlisted to 30 with Aobobe and Dichi eventually chosen.
