Phase 4 murderers nabbed

G-WEST STATION COMMANDER: Madziba

Two men suspected in a robbery and murder that sent fear among the residents of phase 4 in Gaborone have finally been arrested and charged.

The two men from old Naledi and both aged 23 will appear for mention in court on September, 07th, 2020.

Confirming the arrest, Gaborone West Police Station Commander, Superintendent Onius Madziba said that the two men were suspected to have robbed and killed an innocent man in Phase 4 on the 7th of August 2020.

The victim, Maziba said, was walking from Pick’n Pay store when the two thugs suddenly pounced on him. The duo then disappeared but through the help of the public the long arm of the law finally located them.

Speaking in an interview Superintendent Madziba said, “Issues like this one are of serious concern because now people live in fear of being mugged, robbed and killed. These two men are from Old Naledi and they were on the run until we managed to locate them. They will appear before court for mention soon. Their victim’s corpse has been taken to Malawi for burial.”

The police boss also revealed that murder statistics is on the rise as new cases continue to be registered. According to Officer Commanding NO. 13 District Senior Superintendent Agreement Mapeu, so far eight reports of murder have been filed since the beginning of June 2020.

” Victims were both female and male. Such killings come as a result of passion killings and Robbery. As you know the recent case of murder in phase 4 was a result of robbery”, Senior Superintendent Mapeu noted.

Last year during the same dates five cases of murder we registered, said Mapeu who went on to advise members of the public to be each other’s keeper and to desist from crime.
