Two men were nabbed by traffic cops at Makoba Gate on Monday afternoon after being caught in possession of a substance that looked suspiciously like dagga.
According to Letlhakane Station Commander, Michael Maphephu, the duo – aged 31 and 32 – were driving from Letlhakane to Palapye when they were arrested.
“The police stopped their Runx car and upon searching it found a substance suspected to be dagga stashed in the cubby-hole. The substance weighed 0.5 grams and was taken to the laboratories to confirm if indeed it is dagga,” Maphephu told The Voice, adding the suspects were released and are yet to be arraigned before court.
Still in the diamond town, on 15 November, a 49-year-old man driving a Runx car hit a 39-year-old female causing her death.
The lady was crossing the road in Phase 1 ward when she was struck by the vehicle.
“After hitting the woman, the driver fled the scene. The police arrested him the same day when he was still inspecting his car. If found guilty he is likely to be charged with causing death,” closed Maphephu.
