As they did for much of 2020, Covid-19 regulations proved a death rattle for many planned events over the festive period.

The annual football tournaments and choirs that are usually held at that time of the year had to be cancelled.

However, in Maitengwe, people flocked to the river for leisure.

Big Weekend was especially impressed by the dedication shown by the community in cleaning the place up after the fun.

One man, in particular, went above and beyond to ensure the river and its bank was cleared of all litter.

Pilot ‘Captain Sankara’ Kenalemang deserves a special mention for his tireless efforts.

People like him should be applauded for their good work.

Another notable gesture was that of Mfo Ka Phafana, who donated gloves and garbage plastics to Sankara.
