Maun Magistrate on Tuesday withdrew a child maintenance case against Mababe village Chief, Kgosi Kgosimontle Kebuelemang.
The withdrawal came after the chief cleared the P29, 750 arrears he owed after skipping payments 19 times.
When addressing the court, the prosecutor in the matter, Sergeant Mmoloki Boshati, revealed that the chief’s baby mama had informed them that Kebuelemang had paid up.
“She has also furnished us with an affidavit and bank statements. She further indicated that she wants to withdraw, we therefore apply that the matter be withdrawn,” declared Boshati.
The state’s application to withdraw the matter was granted and Kebualemang was freed from all the 19 counts of failure to comply with a maintenance order.
Kebualemang was first arraigned in May following a court order made on the 7th of December, 2016, ordering him to pay a P2 000 monthly fee towards the maintenance of his minor child.
It was revealed that the chief made an application for variation on the 30th of May, 2018 for the money to be reduced to P1, 250 and his plea was granted.
However, despite the variation, he still could not pay the monthly child support.
His fed-up baby mama then dragged him to court seeking what was due to their child.
