A form three male student at Letlhabile secondary school committed suicide on Saturday around 7 pm at Moaloso ward.
The deceased aged 13, was found by one of the family members hanging from burglar bars of the house.
The incident is said to have occurred when the rest of the family members were sitting inside the house.
Tonota police Station Commander, Oteng Ngada confirmed the tragic news to The Voice.
“It was reported that a family member discovered the boy hanging and alerted the rest of the family.
“They quickly took him to the clinic where he was certified dead,” said Ngada.
The police boss added that the boy used a rope to hang himself.
He further indicated that although the relatives have stated that he did not show any signs of suicidal tendencies,police preliminary investigations have ruled out foul play.
“We are concerned at the rate at which children are killing themselves. We advice parents to treat children with caution ,” said Ngada.
This is the third suicide recorded under Tonota jurisdiction since the beginning of the year.
