SUSPICIOUS: Kgosi

Former Director General of the Directorate of Intelligence and Security Services (DISS), Isaac Kgosi, this week told a Regional Magistrates Court that security agents were hatching a sinister plot to kill him.

This followed an application by the state on Tuesday to have the former spy chief’s bail conditions reviewed.

State Prosecutor, Olatotse Solomon, wanted Kgosi to report to DISS office in Sebele and his passport to be transferred from Broadhurst police station where it is in possession of the station commander.

“My lord, this is part of their plan to assassinate me. They want me to come to their offices and they shoot me claiming I was fighting them. I have sources within the DISS who informed me of their plan. If you can ask police officers here in court to close the doors and search all of us, you will find that the security agents are in possession of pistols. Why are they bringing weapons in court? I went to report my concerns to the Commissioner of police but nothing has been done. I am not comfortable reporting at their office. Besides, that is a highly restricted area and they do not have a station commander. I wish to continue reporting to Broadhurst police station commander,” said Kgosi.

Although Regional Magistrate Masilo Mathaka considered Kgosi’s plea, he dismissed the assassination insinuation saying had the agents wanted to eliminate him, they could have long done that. He dismissed the state’s application and ordered that Kgosi continue reporting to Broadhurst Station Commander Obusitswe Lokae.

Status hearing date on the matter has been set for the 22nd of February 2022 when the court will be updated on the progress of the investigations.
