*Woman allegedly bites off lady’s ear after hairy compliment
Complimenting another woman’s hairstyle during a night on the town had painful repercussions for Keone Thuto’s ear when her flattery was mistaken for sarcasm.
“Your hair looks great, the style you plaited is beautiful!” would hardly seem a remark worthy of causing offence.
However, convinced Thuto was in fact insulting her, a furious Boitshepo Tametu reportedly reacted by biting off a chunk of the other woman’s earlobe.
The 29-year-old appeared before Molepolole Magistartes Court this week charged with Grievous Bodily Harm for her alleged ear-chomping antics.
The incident is said to have taken place on the night of 29 November 2019 at Platinum Bar in Ditshegwane village where the two ladies live.
Having both consumed copious amounts of alcohol, the trouble started when Thuto told Tametu the style she plaited was beautiful.
Seemingly under the impression she was being made fun off, a furious Tametu accused the compliment-giver of bad manners and being jealous.
Although Thuto apologised and begged forgiveness, the red mist had already descended on Tametu. She allegedly attacked the other woman, grabbing her and biting her ear and arm before shocked onlookers separated the duo.
Realising blood was dripping freely from her ear, Thuto touched the wound only to discover part of her ear flap was missing.
The owner of the bar then took her to the clinic and the matter was later reported before the police.
Investigations into the matter are now complete, although the prosecution are yet to serve the accused with relevant documents, including the complainant’s medical report and witness statements.
The case was adjourned for mention on 11 March, with Tametu granted bail. Time will rell whether she has bitten off more than she can chew!
