R’NB crooner aims high

One of the latest entrants on the local R’NB scene, Topoyame Samoka is aiming high.

The 24- year old young man’s biggest ambition is to leave a legacy as a musical legend of his time

Samoka, popularly known as Ses’toplar dropped his third official single titled ‘She is gone’ in March.

The single, “ She is gone” the crooner from Shakawe has said in an interview with Voice Entertainment defines his music career journey.

“My musical journey was not really a smooth one because when I started back in high school, people did not appreciate what I was doing, but I never gave up. I kept on producing music although it was really appreciated, which frustrated me,” he said.

He then tried collaborating with another aspiring musician called Gorata Molatlhegi but it still didn’t work out.

“ It just seemed like there was always something lacking in our music,” he said

The young man’s official breakthrough in the local music circles however came when he met a local talented producer, Phuthego Baosinyi in 2019.

“Everything started blending in together when I met P-Jay Baosinyi back in 2019 and he became my producer. People started to give me recognition by showing appreciation for what I had to offer,” he said

Samonka, whose music has an undeniable influence from USA RNB artist, August Alsina said that despite the rampant exploitation of new musicians by veterans he wouldn’t get demoralized.

“I strongly believe in my art and talent, so I’ll stick to the game until I penetrate the market,” he said.
