KBL donates oxygen concentrators to Ministry of Health

Kgalagadi Breweries Limited (KBL) has donated oxygen concentrators worth over P1 million to the Ministry of Health.

KBL’S newly appointed Managing Director, Carlos Bernitt said KBL strongly believes in fostering partnerships with other stakeholders.

“We believe that we thrive when our communities thrives, KBL is always looking for opportunities to invest in communities it serves, a mission which was hampered by the pandemic but one which we are determined to drive forward,” said Bernitt.

KBL has contributed to the COVID-19 response by opening two vaccination points in Gaborone and Francistown, Bernitt noted.

When accepting the donations, Minister of Health, DR. Edwin Dikoloti said the ministry has in the past been privileged to receive donations from KBL in the form of oxygen concentrators and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

“This donation today comes at a time when Botswana is entering the fifth wave of COVID-19 characterized by an increase in positive cases and notable mortalities, as such, this has the potential to create a burden to our health system as the number of cases keeps on rising,” said the minister.

The donation comes just six months after the ministry received another consignment of oxygen concentrators from KBL.

Dikoloti said the medical equipment which is worth P1.2 million, will help improve provision of critical healthcare services for most severe cases.
