Unable to accept his girlfriend’s refusal to have sex with him, a frustrated 30-year-old man reacted by stabbing her several times before hanging himself.
The latest GBV incident played out in Diphuduhudu village on Sunday night, with the 24-year-old victim currently recovering in hospital. Her dead boyfriend lies meters away in the hospital’s mortuary.
Police suspect the trouble started at the young lady’s home when she turned down her lover’s late-night sexual advances. He then brandished a knife from his pocket, stabbed her repeatedly, and fled into the night, leaving her for dead.
Letlhakeng Police Assistant Superintendent, Lekopanyi Molwantwa, told The Voice his officers were called to the scene by the injured girlfriend.
They rushed her to the clinic where she was later referred and admitted to Scottish Livingstone Hospital.
Although the cops searched for the suspect, he was nowhere to be found.
“On Monday morning, we received a report that there was a man hanging from a tree in the middle of an orchard located in the village. The police attended to the report and realised it was the suspect they were looking for,” explained Molwantwa, adding this was the first suicide recorded in his area this year.
