More than 10 members of the Directorate of Intelligence Service (DIS) from Supplies Department in Gaborone are in detention following investigations on flawed procurement procedures.

According to a source, the group which has amongst them the Agency’s Assistant Director General were arrested on Monday after it was discovered that they were behind some procurement that had flouted procedure between 2015 and 2017.

The source said the corrupt procurement, which is alleged to be worth millions of pula came to light during an ongoing internal audit at the agency’s Headquarters.

“According to the look of things, the group has been doing some illegal operations for sometime.”

The detention of the group has been kept a big secret from the public with the DIS Spokesperson, Edward Robert not willing to share details.

“I am not in a position to proffer a comment on the allegations you are raising. This is because doing so runs against our established protocol on dealing with internal matters that concern staff of the Directorate,” responded Robert in an interview.
