No decent funeral for suicide combi driver

DECEASED: Ditau

“No funeral, no memorial service, no messages of condolences, no funeral contributions”.

That was the startling message in Dikagiso Ditau’s suicide note that was found by his relatives, pinned against the trunk of a tree last week.

Ditau, a combi driver for Kanye-Goodhope route who stayed at Logaba ward in Kanye, reportedly left his jaw dropping dying wish before hanging himself from a Mopipi tree.

The 34-year-old Dikagiso Ditau commonly known as ‘Check-Check’ allegedly left the note instructing that his clothes at Goodhope be given to his girlfriend and also that when taken from the tree by the police he be taken straight to his grave without any funeral or memorial service.

The youthful man was said to have phoned his mother last Saturday afternoon telling her that he was going to hang himself.

Later during the day when relatives went to his place, they found him hanging, with the suicide note pinned on the bark of the tree.

Kanye Police Station Commander, Superintendent Mmoloki Mogale, confirmed that they are investigating the death incident that occurred at Morage lands near Gasegwagwa cattle post, about 60 kilometres from Kanye.

“It is alleged that the man was with his sister and that he had earlier told her that he was worried about something but did not specifically say what it was,” explained the police officer.

The deceased’ lifeless body was then taken to a mortuary for post-mortem.
