NEW SINGLE OUT: Beatslayer

For the last ten years, Wazha Nganunu has been an ever-present on the local music scene as a dancer.

The 29-year-old, who goes by the stage name Beatslayer, feels the time is now right for him to make the switch to the main act, releasing his first single ‘Ba Kae’ last week.

The Hip Hop Motswako track features Ohmz The Don and Linxstar and is already making strides.

“The single boasts a summer vibe and consists of a very old classic western music that builds up the soul. People’s response has been positive,” he told Voice Entertainment.

Reflecting on his decade in the industry to date, Beatslayer, who doubles as a producer, said, “It all started back in 2010. I was just a dancer but I felt that I could offer more as a producer or a vocalist thus I ventured into singing but it was not easy to make a breakthrough.”

The Mapoka born lad believes ‘Ba Kae’ is that long awaited breakthrough.

“Being recognised as a performer is very difficult in our country and I believe that is the case with me. But in terms of production, my work has been fine as I worked with various local artists such as Amantle Brown, Kast just to mention a few.”

Despite the slow progress in his career to date, Beatslayer has high hopes for the future.

“I would like to introduce a unique type of sound fused with a sample of our very own legends, traditional music to the other pieces of the world. I believe it’s achievable with a great deal of hard work!”
