BICA CEO: Molatedi

Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA) has launched a campaign called Inspired Opportunities to reposition the BICA brand and to clarify the BICA mandate to all stakeholders.

Speaking during the campaign media launch on Thursday last week, BICA Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Verily Molatedi said as part of the institution’s strategy, BICA conducts satisfaction and brand perceptions surveys every two years.

“The survey aims to identify gaps in our service delivery and factors that affect our brand negatively,” said Morapedi, adding that this is done to put interventions in place to close the gaps.

The Inspired Opportunities campaign, Molatedi said, is one of the interventions in response to the findings of the surveys.

“We are confident that the planned activities will go a long way in communicating who we are and in the process enable stakeholders to understand the BICA mandate as well as create awareness of BICA service offerings,” said Molatedi

The CEO also highlighted that the recently passed Accountants Amendment Act 2020 has introduced several consequential changes to the Accountants Act 2010.

“Some of the key changes is that the Act strengthens the current mandate of the institute by not just making it compulsory for those who work as accounts in Botswana to register with the institute, but it also makes it compulsory for employers to only employ accountants who are registered with the institute, ”Molatedi explained and went further to advise employers to implement the new Act.
