Man accused of raping his sister all night because she went to church

“This is your last day. I want to finish with you once, killing you and later myself!”

In a harrowing, scarcely believable case of incest, a 46-year-old Thamaga man is accused of raping his 27-year-old biological sister for the whole night and then threatening to kill her.

The suspected rapist, who cannot be named to protect his sister’s identity, was reportedly furious with his sibling for going to church.

He is said to have struck on Sunday 5 December, pouncing on his unsuspecting relative as she made her way home from a church service.

The bad-tempered brother allegedly confronted his sister, screaming at her for leaving the house despite ordering her not to go anywhere. It seems he then struck the young woman in the head with a stone, chasing after her as she tried to run away and then dragging her into the bush.

Sources claimed the Dikhutlaneng lands native marched his sister to an abandoned yard, where he raped her throughout the night, finally releasing her the following morning.

She immediately called the police but the suspect managed to evade the boys in blue. On the run for five days, he was eventually caught on Friday (10 December), after drunkenly harassing neighbours.

“They waited for him to fall asleep and then beat him to a pulp. They would have killed him if the cops hadn’t arrived,” disclosed the source.

During his arraignment before Molepolole Magistrates’ Court on Monday, the accused, whose plea was reserved, was charged with two counts of rape.

He is also facing a count of threat to kill, having supposedly warned his sister, “This is your last day. I want to finish with you once, killing you and later myself.”

Urging the court not to grant the suspect bail, the Prosecutor, Sub Inspector Libumbo Lebala insisted a stint behind bars was in his own interest.

The top cop revealed the accused had been badly beaten by an angry mob, who would likely be more than happy to finish him off should he be set free so soon.

Lebala also told court the complainant had moved out of the family home, where both she and her brother stayed with their mum, as she lives in fear of the suspect.

For his part, sporting a bloodied bandaged on his injured head, the accused seemed indifferent to his safety, telling court, “My cellphone remained at Thamaga police. I also have people’s livestock and they don’t know where I am.”

After being advised to prepare his response to a written bail opposing affidavit filed before court, the accused was remanded in custody till his mention, set for 29 December.
