Gospel star to speak at Youth Conference

Award-winning gospel artist Kabelo Eric’s star has been rising steadily since he picked up the microphone and started singing.

Four studio albums later, the 34-year-old is now an internationally recognised brand.

The Christian singer/songwriter and charismatic Minister of the Gospel has been invited as one of the panelists at a Youth Conference in the West African nation of Benin.

Eric will share the podium with Meshack Boni, a Youth in Africa Cabinet Member, Life Coach and Trainer from Benin.

The third panelist is Caroline Ngina, an Entrepreneur and Corporate Trainer from Kenya.

A Youth in Africa initiative, the ‘Start and Grow a Successful Business’ conference is slated for 7 March at the Crypto MLM Academy in Conou, Benin’s economic centre.

With a population of around 700, 000, Cotonou is a large port city on the south coast of Benin.

According to Eric, he was invited by the BTS Academy in collaboration with Youth in Africa after they both reviewed his profile.

His impressive resume includes winning the Best Religious Song in the 2011 Museke Online Africa Music Award, a competition administered in New York, United States of America.

It was a special victory and the first international award for the muso who saw off stiff competition from Benjamin Dube (South Africa), Sonnie Badu (UK/Ghana), Daddy Owen (Kenya) and Uche (S.A Joyous Celebration).

In 2014 he was appointed KORA Goodwill Ambassador for the 2014/15 Fight Ebola Campaign.

Speaking to Voice Entertainment, Eric said he was delighted his music has finally given him a platform to unleash his other talents such as public speaking and his ambition to become a certified trainer and coach.

“It means a lot to me as I’ll have an opportunity to learn and network with the best. I’ll also be launching myself as a speaker on the continental stage. I’ve always been adventurous and proactive, so an opportunity to share my experiences with young people on such a stage is a welcome development for me,” said the ecstatic singer, who is confident the Benin gig will increase his international profile and potentially expose him to new opportunities.

“This is an opportunity for my music and my recently published book ‘Unleashing the supernatural’ to reach other countries around Africa,” he said.

The artist’s drive to take his music to the rest of Africa is undeniable.

He has collaborated with the late South African gospel artist Lundi Tymara, Peace Annoint from Tanzania and recently with a Rwandan artist Serge Iyamuremwe, in a video that was shot last December.

Eric will fly out to Benin on 6 March, returning to Botswana on the 9th.
