Galaxy fans missing in action

Shaya
EMPTY: Rollers supporters watching Galaxy

Shaya was stunned at the terrible turnout in Francistown for Jwaneng Galaxy’s crucial CAF game against Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel.

I know times are tough, and the ‘home game’ was in fact a long way from Jwaneng, but there were tickets available for just P30 for what was one of the biggest matches in the mining side’s history.

Honestly, there were about 200 supporters in the 26, 000 capacity Obed Chilume stadium.

Indeed, one cheeky fan noted there were probably more Rollers fanatics in the ground than Galaxy supporters.

Let’s hope for a better attendance this Saturday, when they play Algeria’s CR Belouizdad in the second city.

Regardless of which team you support, if you’re in the area and like football, this is a unique chance to watch a local side take part in Africa’s top club competition.
