According to the police, the suspect and the complainant, as well as a younger brother, had been living and sleeping together in one room while their mother was away at the lands.

The suspect allegedly had unprotected sexual intercourse with his sister, and has reportedly confessed to the incest but claimed it was a mistake.

According to Thamaga Police Station Commander, Moses Kwarare, the police were called to the hospital after the girl went for pregnancy registration when she was in her seventh month.

“The girl went for pregnancy registration on November 25. The nurses questioned her about the father since she was young and a student for that matter. She then told them that the brother is the father, that’s when they phoned the police who later registered a case,” explained Superintendent Kwarare.

The top cop further disclosed the teenager is staying with her mother at the lands while undergoing counselling from Social Welfare Officers.

The accused recently appeared before Molepolole Magistrates’ Court facing a single charge of Incest. If found guilty, he faces a possible sentence of five years imprisonment.
