Distribution company open Gabs office

East Africa’s leading ICT distribution company, Red Dot has honed in on Botswana, officially opening an office in Gaborone’s Commerce Park last Wednesday.

The company, which originally set-up shop in Tanzania back in 2001, boasts direct distribution contracts with leading technology sellers such as Lenovo, HP, Logitech and Epson.

As well as providing quality service, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Munir Bharwani promised Red Dot’s arrival in Botswana will create jobs for locals.

He explained their aim is to bridge the global digital gap and provide technology with a difference.

“Being different is what sets us apart in the fast paced world of IT distributorship. Our success also came from uncompromising focus on customer service, partner training programme, continuous marketing and efficient logistics model,” explained Bharwani, proudly adding this has seen the company emerge as a premier player in the ultra-competitive distributorship market.

Giving a local perspective, Minister of Communications, Knowledge and Technology, Thulaganyo Segokgo noted Red Dot’s services are in line with the country’s aim to develop a robust, knowledge-based economy.

Describing the move as groundbreaking, he applauded the company for becoming the first ICT distributer to use Botswana as a hub for its Southern Africa operations.

Segokgo explained Botswana has previously been served by distributors operating outside Southern Africa, with limited operations within the country.

“It is encouraging to witness ICT companies investing in the country, as ICT infrastructure is essential for the country’s Reset Agenda and its transformation into a high income economy. ICT is a foundation which other sectors built, to provide innovative digital services and products, achieve operational efficiency and build a competitive edge in the process attained in economic growth,” he said.
