OUT ON BAIL: Bokamoso Mazunga

A Maun man accused of stabbing his girlfriend to death in a frenzied knife attack has been granted bail.

28-year-old Bokamoso Mazunga is said to have slaughtered his lover, Goitsemang Poroga, 24, on 4 April, when she came to visit him at his rented house in the tourist town’s Boseja Kububung ward.

The accused’s neighbour reported the commotion to the police but by the time the cops arrived it was too late, with Poroga lying unconscious in a pool of blood.

The young woman was rushed to Letsholathebe Memorial Hospital where she was certified dead upon arrival.

She has since been buried in her home village of Molepolole.

Mazunga, meanwhile, is again free to walk the streets after Maun Magistrates Court let him loose last Tuesday.

During the brief hearing, the Prosecutor, Paul Basupi revealed investigations were still on-going.

He further told court the police were yet to receive the post-mortem results as well as other exhibits from the forensic lab.

The prosecutor added he had no objection to the suspect being given bail as long as certain conditions were set.

These stipulations included a P1, 000 binding fee, reporting to Maun Police once a month and attending court as and when required.
