USA bound model reaches for the Stars and stripes

Even though she tried her luck at Miss Botswana beauty pageant a few times and failed to make the cut due to height limitations, Atlarelang Mosweu is confident that her time to shine on the international stage has arrived.

The 27-year-old local model has qualified for the United States of America (USA) International Arts Talent Showcase to be held in July.

In an interview with Voice Entertainment, the excited young woman explained how her passion for modelling began.

I started pageantry at primary school and I would always do well but the support I got from the people around me was not enough. Most of them perceived modelling as a waste of time and I was therefore forced to focus on schoolwork rather than to hone my craft,”she said.

Shedding light on how she managed to qualify for this auspicious event, Mosweu said, “I went for auditions in South Africa, CapeTown last year in May and I won the Best Female Commercial Model.

A few months later, I was called to come and compete at the next round at Sandton city and my performance on that stage booked me a spot to go the US and showcase my talent.”

The model from Mahetlwe village explained that what is at stake at the US event is an opportunity to impress different brands.
” And if one impresses any brand, they could be promptly signed to work with that particular brand going forward. I hope to be one of the lucky ones as I want to raise the flag of our country at an international stage,” said Mosweu.

So far through her modeling, Mosweu has done a lot of charity work as well as coached a few aspiring models through Model Arts Agency.

To help her achieve her dream Mosweu has pleaded with both companies and individuals to fund her trip to the USA. “I am pleading with companies, individuals and fashion designers to help me make this dream a reality,” she said.
